Woolwich Cup Silver Champions
It was a great weekend in Elmira for the Atom White team. The kids all had fun in the games and at the Hotel. We went undefeated through the tournament but ended up in 3rd place as the Silver Champions. There were 12 teams in Atom. There were 6 in each Division. We were 2nd in our division and had to play the 2nd place team in the other division. Although it was a little confusing with the format the kids had a blast and really played well as a team.

Game #1 vs Listowel. We took this one by a score of 9-2. Daniel Grand was crowned Jr. King of the game. He made some great passes and played well at both ends of the ice. It was a tough decision for the coaches as Conner Heyink had a hat trick, Lucas Knowler had 2 goals and 1 assist and Kaiden Gawne had 2 goals and 2 assists. Game #2 vs Woolwich #1. We won by a score of 5-2. Kylan Casier was crowned Jr. King of the game. He made some fantastic saves and kept us in the game. Conner Heyink had a strong game with a goal and 2 assists. Daniel Grand had 2 goals and an assist in the game as well. I moved Ian Perry back on Defense and he had a great game with a goal and about 4 shots from the point. Game #3 vs Dunville. This was a back and forth early morning affair. We escaped with a 1-0 shutout win. Conner Heyink was crowned Jr. King of the game. He had a strong game and notched the game winner. Kylan Casier had another great game in net earning the shutout. Adam Gibson got the lone assist on the goal. Game #4 vs Centre Wellington This was our last game of the tournament and the team did not disappoint. It was a real battle for the kids against a team with some pretty big kids. We had a 4-1 lead early in the 3rd. They battled back with 2 quick goals to make it 4-3. With 4 minutes left we got the insurance goal. With a couple penalties called against us late in the 3rd Wellington pulled their goalie for a 6 on 3 power play to finish the game. Kylan stood on his head to earn us the victory. Daniel Grand had 4 goals in the game. Lucas Knowler had a goal and an assist. Teagan Yakubowich had 2 assist. Ian Perry was crowned Jr. King of the game. He kept the play in the offensive zone almost every shift he was on the ice. They could not get it by him at the blue-line and he had about 4 shots on net from the point.
