Final Thoughts On Our Year End Tournament
Atom Rep Families:
Below is the email I sent you all a couple weeks back, here it is again for those that want to read it to their kids.

Yesterday I was very disappointed for the boys that we did not bring home the championship, their was nothing I wanted more than to win this tournament and have the boys be champions for the first time in their lives but upon reflection today I realized what champions these boys already are, and here's why:

Basil Deneau: You let your inner confidence come out and trusted your abilities in net and made some very key and great saves to help us get to the finals. You mentally prepare for games like a pro and have learned to not get down on yourself if things don’t go your way which allows you to be successful.

 B-lackey Stevens:
You wanted to win this tournament so bad and you played to win every single game, using your speed and puck control very effectively and became confident in your teammates by making some amazing passes all tournament long. Your leadership and hard work was not unnoticed.

Nevs: Your intensity this weekend impressed me so much, you played every shift like it was your last. You played more aggressively and intense than I have seen all year, and you never let me down when I asked you to do something.

 B Kay:
Confidence is everything, and did you ever play like you were 6’ tall. The goal you scored in the semi finals was a true testament of just how far you have come over the season. You are a treat to coach and your work ethic was outstanding.

Cado Crawford: The best you have played all season! You controlled your emotions and just played the game you love. Your defensive play was very consistent and you where amazing at getting and keeping the puck out of our end. Oh yeah you finally had your dream come true by scoring from the point with a slap shot!! Congrats

Griffy Kelly: Wow, look out for that shot! Your timing with getting shots away on net have come so far and it helped us win in games #2 and #3. You have become such a steady defenceman and by trusting yourself and your ability, it has enabled you to become a huge asset to our team. You have become a great leader and you proved that by leading your defence group this weekend. Having you and your hard shot on defence helped us tremendously and you have grown to realize that the passes you make are just as important as the goals you score.

Cheese Jackson: Mr. Consistency! You are made up of all heart and you are a dream for coaches to coach. This weekend was nothing but all of that and more, your steady stay at home defensive play was impeccable this weekend. You will go to the wall for anyone on your team and will not quit until they blow the whistle. Amazing work.

Apes: You were asked to play defense this season and you have always been a forward, and the way you played, I would of guessed you played defense all of your life. I love your aggressive style of play and you have such a talent of making the right play at the right time. We asked you to play defence for a reason and that was because of your hockey smarts and when asked to go up to forward a couple times this weekend it was no problem and you even tied the game up for us in game #2. Great hard work!

RJ: I am so happy at how far you have come, you are officially a winger and I can say that with pride. You played the wing like you have played it for years and are doing it with a ton of confidence. You were digging hard for the puck and back checking like nothing I have seen all season, and made sure you were doing your job in our end. Great work Robert, and it was awesome to see you and your line mates working together!

Tyler “The Bull” Junebug- Just like your nickname, you were like a bull this weekend in the corners and in front of the net. I love watching you go when you wind it up, and you have come such a long ways since the start of the season. You scored a huge goal for us in game #2 and it was all due to your willingness to do whatever it takes to win. You bring a huge smile to our faces whenever you are around keep working hard and you will be amazed at what can happen.

Beau “Shemmy” Depencier- Make no mistake that “C” on your jersey came with a lot of responsibility and pressure from me and you led your team like a true captain this weekend. You trusted your teammates and allowed yourself to be creative on the ice. You controlled your emotions and directed that energy in the right way. I am proud of how you have grown over the season and when I needed you this weekend, you answered.

Baby Carrot- I have been working all season to get you to be our mascot and you finally come around this weekend. If it wasn't for you high fiving us after the game and giving us a pep talk before the game I’m not sure we would have gotten as far as we did. I want you to know that you earned that medal and that you are officially a part of the Dresden Atom Rep team. Thanks for all of your support.

So as you can see, the more I thought about it the more I realized we did win. We could not be more proud of what each and every one of you did this weekend and all of your hard work.....has definitely paid off. Please let your child read this, thanks  ~Coach Dave
